Candidate Statement as seen in the March sample ballot

By Oscar A. Gutierrez

Candidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 45

This information is provided by the candidate
I'm not for sale at any cost like other politicians.
My candidate statement as published in the March 2, 2004 Primary sample ballot:

I'm not for sale at any cost like other politicians who want to dip their greedy hands into your wallet when we have a statewide deficit due to their incompetence and ineffectiveness to balance California's $99 billion dollar state budget. I want to fight for the people of California that are sick and tired of the dishonesty that comes from Sacramento. If elected I will start by removing The Joint Powers Act of 1985 and by doing this I will hopefully get rid of 7,000 statewide special tax assessment zones in California. I will also stop AB-1690 the new 8% percent city income tax bill that was co-authored by various members of the state senate and state assembly. I also encourage people to vote No on proposition 56 this law would destroy proposition 13 and its effectiveness in protecting private property rights in our state. I will protect proposition 13 and proposition 218 from the greedy politicians who want to raise your property tax bills so they can take away your homes by excessive taxation. I will also help in the fight in reducing workmen's compensation costs and help get tax relief for businesses. I will work hard along side Governor Schwarzenegger and other members of the state assembly to reduce our state deficit. I make a promise here and now to fight for all the people of California. Sincerely,Oscar Gutierrez Republican Candidate California State Assembly 45th District
