Tax and Spend

By Pat Gray

Candidate for United States Representative; District 12

This information is provided by the candidate
It is imperative that we change our system of collecting and spending our tax funds.
Since the administration of Ronald Reagon there has been a steady decrease in the rate of taxation for wealthy individuals and corporations. This has been wildly escalated in the administration of Bush II. As a result, the working people are paying more in taxation than do the extremely wealthy and the corporations.

The reduction in the rate of taxation has resulted in a lack of funds to maintain the domestic programs needed by our society. This lack of funding for domestic programs has been intensified by the growing military budget and our perpetual wars.

Our Constitution requires that regular accounting is made of how our tax funds are used. This has not been done since the end of the Second World War, when secrecy was made the order of business for our government. Even members of Congress do not know the facts of how our tax funds are used. There are numerous 'black budgets'. We must not allow secrecy to exist and hide from the people just what our government is doing with our tax funds.

Our democracy can not exist if the people are not informed. Democracy requires that the people are educated and have all the information needed to make a decison.
