1. What can be done to ensure that California gets its fair share of federal resources?

Answer from Brian Holtz:

As the state with the largest Congressional delegation, California is in no danger of being denied its share of federal resources. If elected, I would loudly refuse to fight for special benefits for my district (or any constituency therein) at the expense of other taxpayers.

Answer from Chris Haugen:

Right now, California only gets back $.73 for every dollar sent to the Federal Government. This is down from the $.93 we received in 1992. The key is to reduce the amount of tax money that is sent to Washington D.C.. I will vote to make the 2003 tax cuts permanent, stand against reinstating the marriage penalty, death taxes and higher capital gains taxes.

2. What are your foreign policy priorities for the United States?

Answer from Brian Holtz:

America should promote political and economic freedom worldwide, protect the global environment, and wage war on tyrants when the benefits to human freedom sufficiently outweigh the costs in human suffering.

Answer from Chris Haugen:

Win the War on Terror. Unless the US is victorious over the those that wish to destroy our way of life, nothing else matters.

3. What are your priorities for the federal budget?

Answer from Chris Haugen:

To win the War on Terror we must adequately fund our military and intelligence capabilities. Currently, the US has no capability to defend against intercontinental ballastic missles. I support research and development of a space-based missle defense

Answer from Brian Holtz:

Privatize middle-class entitlements like Social Security and Medicare. End corporate welfare: subsidies, tax loopholes, loan guarantees, liability limits, farm price supports, and import restrictions. Enact a line-item veto, and de-federalize all spending not authorized by the enumeration of Congressional powers in Article I Section 8.
