I would be honored to serve as a Commissioner for the San Mateo County Harbor District. The District needs to turn itself around and begin saving money and generating money to maintain both harbors for the future use for public user groups.

I believe the Harbor Board did a disservice to the boating public by closing the Princeton Boatyard. I feel the area is in need of a District owned, privately ran boatyard for the commercial fishermen, recreational and private boat owners. A local boatyard where they can maintain their vessels without having to travel out of the area. The amount of time out of water is crucial to the commercial fishing fleet along with the sportsfishing vessels that both rely on their vessels to make a living. I would like to turn that decision around and re-open a boatyard.

Oyster Point Marina, owned by the City of South San Francisco but operated by the San Mateo Harbor District is in drastic need of generating income for the District. The property available there is prime for a large hotel and a ferry terminal. Too much time and money has been spent on old ideas and some action needs to be taken to prevent further cost to the taxpayers.

I feel employees, business owners and the public have lost their faith in the performance of the current Commission. The press has shared the petty fighting and discord amongst them. I would hope to bring a fresh outlook and some serious work ethics to the Board and move forward with some long awaited projects. I feel the Board has to work as a team to achieve such events, something that unfortunately isn't happening.
