I look forward to serving you as your next Third District Supervisor for San Luis Obispo County.

We are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful regions on earth. And, we are fortunate to live in a county where responsible fiscal management by the Board of Supervisors has spared us the cuts to public services that other counties in California are experiencing.

However, while we have much going for us in San Luis Obispo County, we also face major challenges in the years ahead. I am committed to bringing together the diverse interests in our county. I am honored to have the unprecedented endorsement of the four other sitting Supervisors Shirley Bianchi, Katcho Achadjian, Harry Ovitt, and Mike Ryan as well as all Mayors in the 3rd District Dee Santos, Joe Crescione, and Dave Romero. This proves that my campaign is not about politics; it is about finding solutions and common ground on the issues that currently divide us such as:

  • How do we provide affordable housing for middle-class families without sparking urban sprawl?

  • How do we create high-paying jobs that can support our population?

  • How do we assure a plentiful supply of water for current and future needs?

  • How do we best protect our pristine coastline from unchecked development?

  • How can we maintain a high level of county services with continued cutbacks to local funding?

Everyone in District 3 and in San Luis Obispo County shares something in common: we have all chosen to work and live here because of this area's natural beauty, clean air, and outstanding quality of life. We can all agree on that. None of us desires to create another Los Angeles or Orange County in this pocket of paradise.

Therefore, as a Supervisor, I will support land-use policies that direct growth toward existing cities, not valuable farmland. I will fight to keep the agricultural economy viable. I will work to create partnerships with Cal Poly, local chambers of commerce, and the Economic Vitality Corporation to attract clean, environmentally-sound businesses and industries to our county. In addition, one of my key objectives will be to assure that every taxpayer receives the highest level of service from county government at the lowest possible cost. We must always look for ways to improve efficiency in government and embrace more cost-effective means of delivering important services.

I will be an accessible and active Supervisor. My first act as Supervisor will be to establish regularly scheduled meetings throughout the District so that I am available to all my constituents, from the precincts of San Luis Obispo to the communities of Avila, Pismo, Grover, and Shell Beach.

I look forward to serving you.
