  • 54 years old wife, mother, lawyer, seasoned board member
  • Grew up in Pennsylvania, parents small business owners, took an early interest in sailing and learning to speak fluent German and French
  • Smith College, Northampton, Mass., B.A. in History of Art, 1971
  • Taught History, Art Appreciation and German to junior and senior high school students in Ohio from 1972 through 1975
  • Moved to California in 1975
  • Earned law degree from San Joaquin College of Law, Fresno, 1978
  • Worked as staff attorney with the 5th District Court of Appeal in Fresno from 1978 through 1981
  • Worked as Deputy County Counsel and then Senior Deputy in the Fresno County Counsel's Office from 1981 to 1984, focusing on labor, retirement, school districts and county government
  • Commuted to and from SLO County doing legal work in 1983 + a time when Patty knew she'd live in SLO County permanently some day
  • Worked for a private company that trained law school graduates for their Bar Exams from 1984 to 1990
  • Moved to SLO County permanently in 1992, working with Jan Howell Marx on legal issues related to nursing home care and safety
  • Opened own law office in 1994, specializing in school district law and employment issues
  • Moved to Avila Beach in 1999
  • Appointed to the Avila Valley Advisory Committee in 2000
  • Became involved in school district issues when her daughter attended Bellevue Santa Fe School in Avila Valley
  • Elected to San Luis Coastal Unified School District Board of Trustees in 2000, assuming role of Board Clerk during the first year and Board President in 2001.
  • Married to Kenneth Andreen, retired justice from the California 5th District Court of Appeal; currently sits as a Superior Court judge by assignment throughout California
  • Daughter Ally, 15, sophomore at SLO High School, where she is an honor student recognized by the mayor of SLO for her community service
