IT'S ABOUT WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT, FINALLY!

By Steven "Steve" Castaneda

Candidate for Council Member; City of Chula Vista; Seat 4

This information is provided by the candidate
CASTANEDA IS FIGHTING FOR US!
Opponent has WRONG core values My opponent says he's for managed growth, more public participation in City Hall decisions, and single-family neighborhood protection, but his record says something else. He has consistently voted to SILENCE THE PUBLIC when new development impacts our neighborhoods. He's voted to push over-sized and incompatible development into our established single-family neighborhoods. He voted to allow second units in our single-family neighborhoods. He supports the development of housing on our bay front. Chula Vista needs a PUBLIC BAYFRONT, not expensive condos.

No More Politicians bought By Special Interests My opponent says he's running to represent us, but DEVELOPERS, GAMBLING INTERESTS, AND SAN DIEGO GAS AND ELECTRIC fuel his big money campaign. He has even supported allowing special interests to give politicians twice as much money as they are allowed now. Chula Vista faces many important issues on which our next Council member will vote, including effective growth management, gambling in our city, and the establishment of a municipal electric utility that will ensure fair rates forever for our citizens. With tens of thousands of special interest dollars already in his coffers, do we trust my opponent to make the best decisions for "us"?

Preserve and Protect our Parks and Open Space Parks and natural open space are the greatest gift we can give to our children and future generations. Most would agree that we must PRESERVE them forever, yet there are efforts to develop OUR PARKS AND GREENBELT. I will fight for a policy that permanently protects our recreational and sensitive resources. Only the people should decide otherwise.

City council meetings held in neighborhoods

I WILL FIGHT FOR US AT CITY HALL. I will demand that we hold City Council meetings in every neighborhood, and establish community planning groups to represent each neighborhood. My votes as your Council member will represent we who intend to keep our town the wonderful place our families currently enjoy. I OWE NOTHING TO SPECIAL INTERESTS. You the voters are my top priority. I will ensure that we own our parks, greenbelt, and bay front forever, and pass them on to our children.

As a FORMER POLICE OFFICER, public safety is a top priority for me. We need our public servants in our neighborhoods, serving us where we live, and need them most.

We need BASIC CITY SERVICES in our neighborhoods. Potholes, sidewalks and sewers must be repaired and maintained. We need reliable utilities. All Chula Vistans must demand that our elected representatives look out for us. We truly have one of the best hometowns anywhere. I will fight for Chula Vista at City Hall. I WILL PROTECT OUR QUALITY OF LIFE IN CHULA VISTA, GUARANTEED!
