?Providing high quality public services while maintaining low taxes and fees.

By Dave Allan

Candidate for Council Member; City of La Mesa

This information is provided by the candidate
I will work to get our fair share of taxes from the state for public services including parks and recreation.
Dave will work with local and state legislators to ensure that the city gets its fair share of revenue to be able to provide city services without having to charge user fees or assess special taxes. In addition, Dave will work with local and state organizations to support La Mesa's Parks.

All family-friendly, La Mesa's parks offer many amenities including barbecues, picnic tables, tot lots, and a variety of athletic facilities. Porter Park, conveniently located close to downtown La Mesa, houses a vibrant Senior-Adult Recreation Center. From social activities to bridge and square dancing, adults and seniors gather to enjoy each other's company and keep fit. This summer, Harry Griffin Park, located near Grossmont High School, featured a Summer Concert Series on Sunday evenings - an opportunity for families to enjoy music with their friends and neighbors.

La Mesa's newest park project is a joint effort comprised of the city, the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District, the Challenge Center, the La Mesa Sports Council, Grossmont Hospital, and numerous businesses and individuals throughout East County. These facilities offer fields for "club" sports as well as La Mesa Youth football, Little League and Pop Warner, and is a way that La Mesa can demonstrate its commitment to families and youth sports. Located on the campus of Parkway Middle School, the Junior Seau Sports Complex includes football, baseball and soccer fields with lights for evening sports, a snack stand, restrooms and a convenient parking lot. Also included in the project are administration and library facilities for Grossmont Hospital located at Briercrest Park, an upgrade of the East County YMCA and a skateboard park at La Mesita Park. In the future, The Challenge Center will relocate its facilities to Briercrest Park, completing the project.

Several of the City Parks are joint commitments with the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District - a demonstration of the way your City government shares taxpayer resources with other agencies that serve the people in our community.

As your councilman, Dave will work to ensure completion of the projects at Parkway Middle School and Briercrest Park, and maintain all city parks for the community to enjoy.
