I'm running for our future.

As a parent of three children, I know the challenges that face our families. My priorities are safe streets, increased recreational opportunities, and better coordination with our schools to ensure our young people grow up in a supportive community.

We face significant challenges in the coming months. Though we have done a good job of managing our own finances, budget shortfalls at the state and national levels threaten to severely reduce our city's ability to deliver needed services. Development in Coyote Valley has the potential to negatively impact our traffic, health care, schools and overall quality of life. We will be adding new recreation facilities in coming years, but we must balance our desire for new services with our limited budget.

If I have learned anything in six years as a City Councilmember, it is that the challenges we face tomorrow can never be fully anticipated. Meeting those challenges requires dynamic leadership that includes all segments of our community.

As Mayor, I will ensure all our voices are heard, that we seek sound advice, and that all our decisions are made in the best interest of our community.
