Ballot Statement

By Peter Mandel

Candidate for Board Member; Morgan Hill Unified School District; 4 Year Term

This information is provided by the candidate
I filed the following ballot statement with the Registry of Voters
All students deserve to be challenged to achieve at their highest levels, preparing them for success. Our school district has not stepped up to this mandate. I am running for the Morgan Hill Unified School Board because I have the interest, skills, and business experience to provide urgently needed leadership to help the district set and achieve aggressive academic goals and excellent management execution.

The trustees must make many critical decisions within the next year. They must hire a Superintendent, respond appropriately to a critical fiscal management report, oversee an increasingly tight budget, and negotiate with San Jose on development of Coyote Valley.

There is a deepening lack of communication and trust among district staff, trustees, teachers, classified employees, and parents. All community constituents should be valued and actively engaged in working toward a common goal of academic excellence.

My wife and I have two daughters at Britton Middle School. We are deeply committed to the community and the success of MHUSD schools. I work for IBM in software development, managing large, complex projects. My extensive experience includes financial, business, project, and personnel management. I look forward to using my expertise to enhance educational opportunities for all our students.
