Craig Jones For Los Altos Hills Town Council Innovative Leadership for LAH

Craig lives on Byrne Park Lane with his wife and two daughters. He was born on the Peninsula and raised here and in Sacramento. He graduated Outstanding Graduating Senior from California State University, Sacramento and Magna Cum Laude from Harvard Law School.

Craig's career encompasses international and domestic finance and business operations:

  • Legislative Director of the California State Student Association
  • Consultant with Bain & Co. in Menlo Park and London
  • Partner with venture capital firm Advent International and Dillon, Read & Co.
  • Founded his own venture firm and raised two venture funds
  • Invested in well known Bay Area companies including point-of-sale transaction company Verifone (now a division of HP); Gilead Sciences, which developed a breakthrough AIDS drug; Renovis, which has a Phase III stroke therapy in development, and MarketTools, the leading internet-based market research firm.
  • Board of Directors experience across over 25 companies, many of which have gone on to be successful public companies in healthcare and technology, of significant relevance to service on the Town Council

Craig's volunteer work is equally broad and relevant to his Town Council service:

  • Member of LAH Town Finance and Investment Committee, advising LAH Town Council on Town budget, process, and spending levels
  • Chairman of the Political Affairs Committee of the National Venture Capital Association personally lobbying the White House, Federal Reserve and Congress
  • Volunteer and supporter of the National Federation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, working with disadvantaged high school students
  • Led efforts to save Bullis-Purissima elementary school from closure
  • Chairman of Bullis Charter School with goal of bringing educational choice to Los Altos Hills and Los Altos
