Fred was born the oldest son in a family of seven. The navy and his father brought the family to the Santa Clara in 1954. He grew up in Sunnyvale watching the farmers grow their crops when there were less people, traffic, crime and in general less problems.

He became an independent contractor at eight (paper-route) and learned sub-contracting when he was fifteen. He received his education at Bishop, Benner and Sunnyvale High Schools, as well as graduating from Foothill College with an AA Degree in Accounting. After spending three years in the United States Army, he continued his education with San Jose State University to graduate with a BS Degree in Business Administration.

Over the past 30 years he has gained valuable experience in business performing job functions as - Production Control Supervisor, Plant Manager, Purchasing Supervisor, Production Manager, and Senior Buyer. Fred has had as many as forty people, and two shifts report to him. He has negotiated multi million dollar contracts and has been a team leader on all types of committees. Fred has been given awards by the Accounts Payable Department in multiple companies.

The only way Fred's parents could afford activities when he was growing up was to send his family to Fair Oaks Park. Because of his fondness for the park, as a kid Fred attended all the activities the park provided. Fred repaid his debt as a Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Commissioner for eight years supporting the Los Gatos Creek Trail Initiative, Dog Park, Skateboard Park, Soccer Park, the Fairway Glen Open Space Park, and parks in new housing and apartment complexes. Fred attended the opening dedications for the Santa Clara Youth Activity Center, the Fairway Glen Center, and the City Gazebo. During the time of his commission, Fred was the most active commissioner to represent our city at city conventions.

As a sports official for over thirty years, Fred has not only visited almost every single High School, Middle School and Church Gym, he has served the kids of our valley in Softball, Football, Basketball and Volleyball. Having officiated in three amateur Softball Association National Championships, Fred is a member of ASA's National Indicator Fraternity. He has officiated at the adult level in Softball for the following cities - Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Campbell, Los Gatos, San Jose, and Cupertino. For the past fifteen years, Fred has been invited to umpire in the Softball Labor Day Classic in Mt. Vernon, Washington and three years ago was given the title of Ambassador for the Twelve and Under National Tournament.
