Position Paper
The question has arisen in the public's mind as to who I am and what to I believe in. What are the issues I stand for and why?

1. The public deserves the first consideration of its elected officials and perception is important. I have proposed a one or two year separation between participating in Board voting activity and becoming an employee of the Fire District. (Proposed 2002)

2. I would like to see the EERO with binding arbitration clause for all bargaining units. This take out the squabbling between the employees and management eliminating hard feeling and anger which labor relations often causes. I would like to see a vote by the public on this issue now. I think the people will support it and they are the ultimate customers of our business. (Proposed 2003)

3. I would like to see all examinations based on merit and ranked. I believe the results should be posted in the work place. The employees have a right to compete and see how they rank at all levels of promotions. (Proposed 2003)

4. The employees are our most valuable resource. I believe the people in the stations and in field doing the workn the better we operate. I voted to give the fire fighter a raise because we could afford to and it was the right thing to do. (Approved April 2004) I also voted against giving management a raise because they are already paid more than comparable positions in our area. I believe we need quality people to protect the public but should paid people by their skills and not their title.

5. I would like to see an outside auditing firm review our financial data. The Fire Chief publicly stated the County of Sacramento has overcharged and under preformed on most of the services District receives. A new set of eyes and a more professional approach is long over due and probably most cost effective.

6. Lastly, I think that future mergers will have a tremendous impact on resources. I believe the public should vote on any additional changes, which will impact their level of service. If a merger will improve service they will overwhelmingly vote for it. If not then they will vote against it. I truly believe in the citizens of this community and their desire to have Sac Metro as their provider of service. Let's let them decide.

These are the things that I believe are important to the people where I live. If they agree they will retain me and if not that they will vote me out.
