Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Carlina Thomas

Candidate for
Board Member; Huntington Beach City School District; 4 Year Term

This information is provided by the candidate

District parent perspective during tough financial times is paramount. Diverse board makeup is essential to better serve the students and community alike. With millions cut from our district budget over recent years and more cuts projected to come; student program preservation is critical and at risk. Having two (2) students currently in the district provides first-hand- feedback on where-it-hurts from the students perspective. All efforts need to be centered around supporting staff through training and resource development to better our students educational experience. Creative and innovative ideas to foster teacher and student development might include increasing school cross-pollinization of supplemental programs and staff development activities. I am a big proponent of thinking outside the box to help bring supplemental programs (that were once funded) back to the students.
