Dear Friends, Well it is election time again and I am proud to announce that I am running for re-election for the Huntington Beach City School District Board of Trustees.

I have served as your board member for the past 12 years and look forward to another 4 years. With the state financial crisis that has forced our school district to make cuts for the past three years, now is the time we need to maintain strong, experienced leadership on our board. I have provided that strong leadership.

You all know I put the kids first. When it comes to budget cuts, I want them to be as far away from the classroom as possible. I am a fiscal conservative, and do not vote to spend money we do not have. We still have great uncertainty with the state budget, which means we will be looking to make additional cuts again this next year. Again, this is where we need experienced leadership that I can provide.

Let me bring you up to date as to my background and what I have been involved in. You may know I am a businessman and have worked for my company, in numerous marketing management positions, for the last 34 years. Besides my duties as your School Board Member, I am a member of the Huntington Beach City - Community Services Commission, representing our school district. I am a member of the Huntington Beach Union High School District - Community Action Panel as well as a member of the H.B. Chamber of Commerce. I am also on the Board of Directors for the Kelly Weaver Memorial Fund. I am a proud recipient of the PTA Honorary Service Award and an active member of my church.

I need your help with this campaign. I am proud to say that Dr. Duane Dishno, former Superintendent of HBCSD, is my campaign chairman, but I need people to volunteer for committees, and help with mailings, etc. I need your financial help also, so whatever you can donate will be appreciated. My election campaign to donate to is Friends of Brian Rechsteiner. The address is 9891 Vicksburg Drive, Huntington Beach, CA 92646. (Note state law requires donations of $100 or more for you to include your occupation and employer.) With your help I can win this election

I am running my campaign in conjunction with Cathy McGough, who is also a strong experienced leader and whom I believe should also be reelected.

I am very proud of some of the accomplishments of our district during the past 12 years: Built the Mike Case Wing at Dwyer Middle School, reopened Peterson/Clapp Elementary School, hired an outstanding new Superintendent. We also built and opened Huntington Seacliff School, passed a bond to repair and modernize our schools, improved student test scores district wide and added 8 new Distinguished Schools and a National Blue Ribbon School during this time. I am also proud to have founded the Sowers Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program to assist students with their speaking abilities and prepare them for the high school Model United Nations program.

I will be very proud to represent you on the Board of Trustees for the Huntington Beach City School District for another four years.

Sincerely yours, Brian Rechsteiner brianrechsteiner@socal/rr.com
