Board Member; Brea Olinda Unified School District; 4 Year Term

Two-term BOUSD Board Member:

  • Served as Clerk, Vice-President, and President in my tenure.

  • Works to ensure that the district's finances (including G.O. Bond) are protected and expenditures are made with children first in mind.

  • Has listened to public and staff concerns and has addressed these issues with success.

  • District test scores have risen and continue to rise as curriculum and classroom environment issues are addressed.

  • Very instrumental in bringing current Superintendent Tim Harvey to our district and continues to be instrumental in ensuring integrity and accountability from staff and students.

  • Has served on the Orange County School Board's Association Board as a director and an officer.

Education:

  • Received a BA in Liberal Studies and a teaching credential from Cal State University Fullerton

  • Currently substitutes in Fullerton Elementary School District.

Community Service:

  • PTA involvement at the unit, council, and district levels.

  • Advocates for children and families in Sacramento, meeting directly with legislators so that our community's concerns are heard and addressed.

  • Has served on the Youth and Family Action Plan Committee and other city committees in the past.

  • Keeps a relationship with various city council members to enable clearer communication between the school district and the city.

Life-long Brea Resident:

  • Married to Kelton for 25 years.

  • Attended Brea schools including Arovista, Brea Junior High, and Brea Olinda High School.
