I was privileged to serve as Pacific Grove's police chief for almost six years. I'd be honored to continue serving you as a member of the Pacific Grove City Council.

I believe integrity, competence, and moral courage are the most important characteristics elected officials should possess. Do you believe the current Council members are living up to your standards in these areas? As your Council member, I pledge to provide competent and trustworthy leadership, as I did as your police chief.

The lasting impact of bad decisions can scar a town forever. Many of our historical, architectural, natural, and economic resources are simply not renewable, and require impeccable stewardship. We need to preserve the special qualities of our town for this and future generations. Everyone in this town deserves to have their voice heard, whether or not they belong to a special interest group. Everyone should be treated with equal respect and dignity. No one should be marginalized because they possess different views than those in power. Hundreds of people who signed initiative petitions should not have had their signatures thrown into the trash with little thought or consideration.

After twenty-seven years of public service, I'm conversant on the issues involved in running a city government properly. I am a Pacific Grove native and graduate of Pacific Grove High School, Class of '71. I have a passionate interest in preserving the best things from Pacific Grove's past, while doing the things necessary to successfully move Pacific Grove into the future.

I have identified a number of priority issues that should be addressed by the new Council. Please visit my website at electmiller.com for more specific details.

I will donate my $420 per month Council salary to local charitable groups, including Meals on Wheels, PG Pride, SPCA, and Friends of the Library. Serving you will be my honor and privilege, for which no other compensation is required.
