Professional Experience: Administrative/Teaching Experience: 17 years managing budgets, employees and volunteers in both California public schools and private colleges. 18 years as a classroom teacher and reading specialist.

Local Professional Experience: Director of Curriculum, Monterey County Office of Education, Administrative Dean, Monterey College of Law. Produced "Monterey Views," a series of 72 television programs on community issues that aired on AMP (Access Monterey Cable Channel 24).

Community Experience: 24 year Monterey resident, a long record of committed public participation including former service on the Monterey Planning Commission, Treasurer of the New Monterey Neighborhood Association, President of the Monterey Heritage Society, and member of the State Theater Preservation Group.

Currently, she is Co-Chair of Save Our Waterfront Committee and member of the League of Women Voters, New Monterey Neighborhood Association, Sierra Club Ventana Chapter, National Women's Political Caucus, Women's League for Peace and Freedom, and Landwatch.

Education: PhD Claremont Graduate School, MA California State University, San Diego, and BA Occidental College.

Personal: Barbara and her husband have three married sons and five grandchildren.
