Preserve Steinbeck's Cannery Row by establishing a history and amusement park district. Restore Ocean View Boulevard and identify as one of Monterey's main street.A. Traffic, Parking and Transportation. My priority is to remove all Canner Row on-street parking meters. Parking meters have been part of Cannery Row for many years and a very important source of revenue for the city parking fund. Offering free 1-hour parking will allow the locals to visit Cannery Row and actually do some shopping or dining. Locals will dine out more frequently if they are given 2-hours free parking in the Cannery Row Garage. There are many pedestrians in Cannery Row and everything has to done to ensure it is very safe to walk. Infastructure should be upgraded and sidewalks, curbs and gutters should be replaced. |
