By Lois L. Beres

Candidate for Council Member; City of Ridgecrest

This information is provided by the candidate
Three strengths, Council member's first responsibility is fiscal responsibility, Lois has vast financial background; City Infrastructure maintenance is vital, Lois has been fixed asset manager of several multiple branch financial institutions; Decision maker and team player
Lois Beres has a financial background that will be of assistance to the City of Ridgecrest. A Professional banker for 25 years has given her an analytical mind when it comes to money, finances and management. Her belief is that the first priority of the council must be to exercise fiscal responsibility. If this is done properly, the infrastructure will be maintained and other projects will be funded as money permits.

Presently Lois is Vice Chair of the Redevelopment Agency Advisory Committee of the City of Ridgecrest. Serving on this committee for over 18 months has given her a clear view of some of the businesses that have come into Ridgecrest as well as those who want to come here. She is well informed on council activities.

Lois has been involved in community service the entire 16 years she has lived in Ridgecrest. She served on the Chamber of Commerce Board and was a Chamber Ambassador, currently a VIP Ambassador. She received the first Ambassador of the Year award for excellent service given by the Ridgecrest Chamber. Lois served on the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital Foundation Board for 7 years, serving as President and Treasurer. She has also served on the corporate board of the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital as a member of the Data Management Committee. The Maturango Museum Board of Trustees is another board on which she served as President after the position of treasurer during a time when the museum was in a heavy debt position. Working with the Administrator, the Museum was on it's way to fiscal strength at the end of her term. This experience is invaluable to the city in this time of budget crisis.

Lois is a current member of the Fire Mountain Foundation of Cerro Cosso Community College, raising funds for student outreach, college needs, scholarships, etc. In addition to these, she is very active in her church.

You will find Lois to be honest and knowledgeable. She is a great choice to fill a position on the City Council.
