My political philosophy is grass roots campaigning, going door to door and also speaking to everyone I see or meet in Arcata. This is a small town and I have been politically active since I moved here 11 years ago.

As a member of the City's Transportation Safety Committee since 1997 I have been able to work with many of the city staff. Over time I have come to understand alot of the process of getting things done in the City. Initially I was frustrated with the speed of completion of things, but I hung in there and have come to a level of understanding I could not have if I had quit the committee.

As an activist I came to realize that sometimes the City needs to be directed by it's citizens, who may be in opposition to the intent, ideas, or actions of City staff or council members; as was the case with Janes Creek West.

Having been a single parent for many years and a tenant in Arcata. I have understanding and compassion for these conditions. Now as a landlord and a self-employed person I have had to look things from a different prospective. There are many ways to approach business and a rental. I believe that my tenant is my first and foremost client and my customers desires are very highly valued.

I listen to all who speak and I have found out that I never know where the best information will come from. I know that treating all with respect and kindness generates goodwill, and that people will generally return what they receive from others.

Finally, in support of campaign finance reform, I am not taking any money and through that I am rejecting the format that has gotten us so little choice in the our state and federal elections.
