Councilmember Kerrigan's political philosophy revolves around truly listening to residents voice their opinions and concerns. His goal is to represent the community, not special interests. Councilman Kerrigan often goes door to door to hear from constituents on important matters, or holds neighborhood meetings to provide local residents with critical opportunities to express their views on key issues.

Councilmember Kerrigan believes in maintaining the positive momentum Eureka has created these past four years. He wants to see Old Town and Downtown Eureka continue to thrive. He wants neighborhoods to continue to become safe and cleaner, lined with trees, affordable housing, and local businesses. As such, Councilmember Kerrigan's community vision is,"Moving Eureka Forward."

Councilmember Kerrigan also recognizes that he cannot move Eureka forward alone. That is why he works hard to collaborate with elected officials from the county and the state to make sure important projects like the Buckhorn Summit improvements on Highway 299 really happen. Just four years ago, the Eureka City Council was gagged by infighting and political bitterness. Now, the City Council works well together and can actually accomplish important projects for the city's residents. Councilmember Kerrigan believes this collaboration and team attitude is critical to adaquately representing local citizens and improving the economic character of the Eureka.
