District Perspectives

By Vern M. Cooney

Candidate for Board Member; Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District; Division 1

This information is provided by the candidate
Summary of my perspectives for Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District.
The regional water system has reliably served the drinking and industrial water needs of our community for 45 years.

The District has reliably served the needs of our customers at a very reasonable cost.

The District is currently developing plans, especially with respect to its infrfastructure, to ensure the regional system will continue to reliably serve the needs of this community for many years to come.

The District has excellent relationships with its 8 wholesale customers. The District consults and collaborates on all matters of importance.

The District recently obtained a 25 year extension of its water rights permits from the State to ensure a long-term, reliable water supply for this community.

The District recently completed a Habitat Conservation Plan for its Mad River operations to understand and mitigate impacts associated with District activities on listed salmonids (e.g. coho, chinook, and steelhead).

The District has been well led, well managed and well maintained for the benefit of our community and ratepayers

If re-elected to the Board, I will continue to move this District forward and continue the above perspectives.
