I am fortunate to be one of only two candidates to have submitted an official Ballot Statement, which will appear in the Voter's Pamphlet to be sent to every registered voter in Arcata:

Ballot Statement

My name is Gregory P. Allen

My age is 51

My occupation is Attorney

My education and qualifications are BA, MA Stanford, JD University of Illinois

Local government must be open, accessible and accountable to the voters.

I stand for the proposition that government is stronger and more responsive when citizen voters actively participate in the political process. I am working with hundreds of other voters in Arcata to create opportunities to direct the path of our city. Arcata voters are empowered to create responsible, fiscally workable solutions that live up to our progressive traditions. For our democracy to thrive, the voters need to be responsible and make it clear to our elected officials what we want.

Arcata needs to have careful government spending and stronger fiscal management. Public money must be spent with social responsibility in mind. We need to build a local economy based upon our local businesses, and new businesses locating here. By supporting and nurturing local businesses, we can build a sustainable economy less dependent on governmental grants and yet consistent with our desire for environmentally benign industries and green values.

Working together we will make Arcata a safer, happier, prosperous home for all.
