Manny Soliz for Antioch City Council Candidate Statement

By Manuel "Manny" Soliz, Jr.

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Antioch

This information is provided by the candidate
Antioch's Great Challenge
The great challenge facing Antioch is how to deliver quality services during this time of budget constraints and challenges to our quality of life. As a member of the community, the issues of greatest concern for me are: Improving traffic flow and reducing congestion Ensuring public safety Encourage new businesses, and retain existing businesses Making the best use of the taxpayers' money

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Economics at Stanford University, which included advanced studies in political science and sociology.

While at Stanford, I conducted economic research at the Hoover Institution. Currently I work as a Financial Planning Consultant, helping clients develop investment and retirement plans.

I bring unparalleled experience and problem solving ability to our City Council. I served the citizens of Antioch on the City Council from 1996-2000, helping maintain an environment conducive to business, during a difficult time in our history. I served the Parks and Recreation Commission, Family Stress Center Board of Directors, Antioch's representative to the League of California Cities, Animal services and Arts programs supporter, and co-founder of the Delta Blues Festival. I led the fight against the proposal to bring an Indian Gambling Casino to Antioch.

My hope is to have a community where families feel safe, workers drive safely and quickly to their jobs, and a business tax base that guarantees a high quality of life.

I have established a solid record of experience and accomplishment. As your representative to the City Council, I will maintain a solemn trust and commitment to listen and consider all sides without regard to undue pressure and politics. If you have a concern, and think no one will listen at City Hall, I'll listen. My home telephone number is 778-1573.

If you are interested in People, Not Politics;

I would appreciate your vote.
