WHY IS BILL WITHROW A CANDIDATE FOR THE POSITION OF TRUSTEE FOR OUR COMMUNITY COLLEGES?

The public educational process is, and has been, a top priority for Bill.

  • Our young adults must be given every opportunity to obtain the finest education possible, at a reasonable cost.

  • Top quality education provides the labor pool to attract and retain vibrant businesses, which will maintain and enhance our regional economy and the quality of life that we experience and cherish.

  • The Peralta Community Colleges are an important and vital ingredient of this process.

  • Bill and his wife have five children. Four of them attended Community Colleges, before going on to four year universities. They appreciate the educational foundation that they received; the increasing need for secondary education in our society; and the associated, financial burden that is under-taken by families, students, and the community.

  • Bill is very concerned about the budget crisis in the State of California and the prospects for an adverse impact on our educational system.

  • Bill has the experience, qualifications, energy, time and passion to help make the Peralta Community College District the finest educational institution of its kind in the State of California and, at the same time, ensure that our taxpayer's dollars are committed wisely and effectively.

Here is what Bill Withrow brings to the table as a candidate for the Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees:

  • He has an extensive financial background, both in terms of formal education and professional experience. The financial condition of the district and fiscal storm clouds on the horizon are key factors. He can make a budget come alive.

  • He has an extensive strategic planning background, which is an important factor for policy development...the role of a Trustee.

  • He has extensive experience as a civic leader, compiling a broad array of elected and appointed positions.

  • He has an extensive background in the senior level management of large industrial and institutional organizations. He recognizes what is reasonable to expect from management staff and what is not.

  • He has extensive involvement in the Community. He has the endorsement of the high school principals and key officials in the Alameda Unified School District. He can elevate the awareness of, and appreciation for, the Peralta Community College District.
