By H. E. Christian "Chris" Peeples

Candidate for Director; Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District

This information is provided by the candidate
Dear Contra Costa Voters:

Because of some miscommunications my ballot statement does not appear in your ballot pamphlets. I apologize for my part in that error. What should have been in your pamphlet follows:
CANDIDATE'S STATEMENT
(Elections Code §13307)

Election Title & Date: General Election, 2 November 2004

Office Title: Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District At-Large Director

Name: H. E. Christian (Chris) Peeples

Age: 57

Occupation: AC Transit At-Large Director

My Education and Qualifications are: I ride AC Transit, both local and transbay, and have done so for almost 30 years. Four years ago I gave up my car and now go everywhere by public transit.

Since I have been on the board we have reduced the particulates from our buses by 93%. Working toward zero emissions, AC has the most advanced fuel cell program for transit buses in the world. We have improved disabled access to our buses and have made our buses more affordable for school children. I have led or supported all these projects and will continue to do so.

My years of effort on transit issues and my seven years of hard work at AC have resulted in endorsements from Congresswoman Barbara Lee, The Sierra Club, The League of Conservation Voters, Senator Don Perata, Assemblywomen Loni Hancock, Wilma Chan, and Ellen Corbett and Assembly candidate Johan Klehs. For four of the seven years I have served on the AC Board, my fellow board members have elected me president or vice-president.

If reelected, I can't promise miracles, but I will continue to work hard to make AC Transit work, and work well. Questions or comments: 510-655-4438 or chris_peeples@yahoo.com.
