Background to Serve

  • I am a certified city planner with 20 years experience, skills and understanding relating to land conservation, development and planning. The same skills that the Council will need to deal with Magna's development proposals. As a City planner I was very involved in negotiating with developers on the public's behalf. On the Council I will make sure we stand tough in dealing with Magna and get the best deal for Albany residents.
  • I have an MBA with major course work in accounting and finance that would make me an asset in reviewing budgets and analyzing new approaches to providing services. I've worked as a manager for a Fortune 50 firm for the past 4 years and will also bring a breadth of private sector experience to the Council.
  • I was a Union officer for over 15 years. My experience in labor negotiations will be useful during bargaining with the city employee groups.
  • Albany residents care deeply about the environment and our voice needs to be heard at higher levels of government. I look forward to serving Albany on one of the many regional boards or commissions, with city representatives, involved with environmental protection or development issues.
  • My wife and I have three children, two in Albany schools and one in college. I am a PTA volunteer coordinator at Cornell for the Silly Olympics. We volunteer for and support SchoolCARES. We love Albany and want to preserve its wonderful character. If elected I might be the only parent of school age children on the City Council. I will be a strong advocate for the needs of families and youth in Council decision making.
