I was born in Oakland, California and grew up in San Leando, California. I attended public school and graduated from Pacific High School in 1968. In high school, I was active in sports and student government. I attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was the student representative at the State Chamber of Commerce Conference on Law Enforcement.

I graduated from the University of Santa Clara in 1972 with a B.A. in Political Science. In college I participated in inter-collegiate football. I attended the University of Santa Clara School of Law and graduated in 1975 with a Jurist Doctorate degree.

My work experience started my senior year of High School. I worked the swing-shift at a local union cardboard factory. In college, I worked as a teamster for United Parcel Service and as a union carpenter for my father's construction company.

I started my own law practice in 1976 in San Leandro, California. My practice is primarily a construction law practice. I participate in the Voluntary Legal Services Program which provides low cost legal services. I also serve as an arbitrator in the county attorney - client fee dispute program and as Judge Pro Tem for the Alameda County Superior Court.

I am married to Maria Palmeri and have three children.

Both my wife and I have been actively involved in improving our community for the past 13 years.
