Nina Moore is currently in her fourth year as a member of the Fremont Unified School District Board of Trustees, where she served as president during 2003. She also represents the Fremont Unified School Board on the Special Education Regional Policy Board (Mission Valley SELPA), where she is in her second year as SELPA Board president. In addition, she serves as a delegate to the California School Boards Association Delegate Assembly, the policy-setting branch of CSBA. Nina was recognized by the Fremont School Management Association with the Outstanding Friend of Education award for 2001-2002.

Aside from her School Board activities, Nina has served on the board of the Fremont Education Foundation since 1997, where she recently completed her fifth term as president. The Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides innovative education grants to Fremont's teachers, after-school band programs at Fremont's elementary schools, and sports scholarships for after-school sports.

In April 2003, Nina was elected to the board of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce. She holds a strong belief that the business community and education community must work together to ensure that Fremont's schools remain a strong community asset, attracting quality employees and their families to Fremont and creating tomorrow's business leaders and workforce. Nina also is a member of the South Bay Leadership Council for a Healthy Community, a relatively new organization focused on reducing depression and tobacco use among teen-age youth in particular but also among other under-served populations. For her community service, Nina was recognized as the 20th Assembly District's Woman of the Year for 2004.

Beyond her Fremont activities, Nina serves as Secretary of the Northern California Chapter of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (a family support organization for a congenital bone disorder that affects her daughter.)

Nina has lived in Fremont since 1991 with her husband Mike and their two children, who attend Fremont public schools. She is a transplanted East-Coaster who moved to the Bay Area in 1988 to join Sun Microsystems, where she worked as a Director of Information Technology until 1993. After leaving Sun to become head of Client Services for a San Mateo start-up, Nina retired in 1994 to spend more time with her family and take a more active role in her community.

Prior to her service on the Board of Education, she was active in PTA and on School District Commissions, such as the Community Facilities Committee, and the Commission on Instructional Equity. She is also a past member of the Tri-Cities Children's Centers (now Kidango) Board of Directors.

Nina graduated from Clark University (Worcester, MA) in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern Languages and Literature, and subsequently received her Master of Science degree from Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences (Boston, MA) in 1982.
