The Bernal Park

By Cindy McGovern

Candidate for Council Member; City of Pleasanton

This information is provided by the candidate
For the last ten years I was part of a community group working to reduce the development on the Bernal Property situated across from the fairgrounds. It took a long time to get to where we are today, 581 housing units and 320 acres for a public park. This park should include amentities for all residents of Pleasanton.
I support:

  • Open space and trails
  • Wetland restoration
  • Areas for youth recreation and activities including lighted sports fields and a teen center
  • A community center
  • Cultural arts facilities

We are truly fortunate to have the opportunity to develop a park of this magnitude in our community. Measure X on this ballot assures you the right to vote on the Phase II uses for this park. I support Measure X and urge you to vote yes.

I would like the community to consider a city wide bond measure, that excludes senior citizens, to allow us to build the Bernal Park sooner rather than later.
