Sharon Kidd combines 20 years in the financial services industry with extensive experience working with at-risk youth. As a senior financial analyst at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, Sharon has tracked market trends and developed original investment strategies for high-income mutual funds, some with assets of $1 billion or more. She is also an expert in opening trusts and IRAs. In addition, Sharon is well known as the moving force behind an innovative youth mentoring program in Oakland, California. Financial management: Research and analyze market trends; plan and implement successful investment strategies; establish trusts and IRAs. Management skills: Provide project management, focusing on time-critical functions and targeted, cost-effective outcomes; supervise professional and administrative staff. Communication skills: Communicate effectively with clients and staff at all levels of an organization; develop and implement customer relations policies and practices. YOUTH AND COMMUNITY SERVICE Oakland Police Department - Youth Mentoring Program - Intervention specialist (1997 to present) Establish and coordinate a model city program aimed at helping first-time juvenile offenders find jobs, stay in school, and develop positive values and self-esteem. I have worked with hundreds of teens, advocating for them in court and at probation appointments and providing a structured program for their re-entry into the community. African-American Advisory Committee on Crime - President (1998 to present) Monitor areas with high homicide rates and work with victims' friends and families to encourage their cooperation with law enforcement and ensure their confidentiality. My work here has helped bridge the gap between the police and minority communities in Oakland, and I have personally assisted in solving three homicides.
