BIOGRAPHY

Alex Moisa was born in Montebello, California. Alex attended the City's public schools, graduating from Montebello High School in 1982. Alex continued his education at East Los Angeles College where he earned an Associate of Arts degree, then transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1987. After a brief work period, Alex returned to academics and graduated from Boalt Hall, School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley in 1992, where he served as an Associate Editor of the Law Review.

Alex's father was a steel worker and his mother worked at a furniture store in their local community. Alex credits his parents for teaching him to value family, hard work, and civic responsibility. His parents instilled in him the idea that each generation can and should do better than the previous.

Alex and his wife, Irma, moved to Whittier in 1994. They are the parents of three children, and are sponsors and supporters of the Ocean View Elementary School PTA, Murphy Ranch Little League, Whittier Girl's Softball and Whittier Area Youth Soccer. Alex currently serves on the City's Park and Recreation Commission and as a Whittier representative on the Technical Advisory Committee for the Puente Hills Landfill Native Habitat Preservation Authority. Alex is also one of the founders and former President of the non-profit Friends of Pio Pico, Inc., working to provide cultural and educational activities at the Pio Pico State Historic Park in Whittier. Alex, Irma and their family are parishioners at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Additionally, Alex has served in numerous capacities with local non-profits, community groups and is a member of several professional associations, as listed on the next page.

After practicing law for five years in the municipal and public law fields, Alex began a private law practice in Whittier in 1998, and has an office in Uptown Whittier. His practice specializes in general civil litigation, family law, and transactional work.

Alex would like to take the next step in his path of public service and civic responsibility by serving as a member of Whittier's City Council. As a member of the Council, Alex will bring a fresh perspective and strive to maintain our family neighborhoods, invigorate our local economy, and improve upon the services the City provides to its residents in this challenging economic climate.
