Dick Gaylord is a community leader and teacher. He has been active at Long Beach City College for the past eight years. He is serving his eighth year on the Personnel Commission where he has been Chairman twice; he was a member of the Presidential Search Committee that selected the College's current president, Dr. E. Jan Kehoe; and, he has personally provided scholarships for needy students. Dick strongly supported and worked for the passage of Proposition E, which brought $178,000,000 to the College for upgrading its facilities.

As a community leader, Dick has served as:

• Chairman of the California Board of of Behavioral Science Examiners
• A Member of the California Real Estate Advisory Commission
• President of both the Long Beach and California Associations of REALTORS
• Executive Board, Belmont Shore Residents' Association
• Arbitrator for the Long Beach Bar Association
• Former Advisory Board Chairman of the YWCA Women's Shelter
• Former President of the Board of Directors of the Better Teenager Association

• Taught classes at Long Beach City College
• Taught at California State University, Long Beach
• Taught continuing education classes

In 2000, he was honored by the March of Dimes as "Real Estate Industry Man of the Year."
