TOM CAMARELLA'S EDUCATION PLAN

By Tom Camarella

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Culver City

This information is provided by the candidate
Our budget includes too much waste. Once I reduce the unnecessary spending, there will be enough money for the city to fully-fund after-school programs and more teen services in order to help take care of our children, Culver City's future. Tom will also work to improve the relations between the CCUSD and the City Council.
I will work closely with the School Board members and CCUSD staff to ensure that City Council decisions are made in the best interests of the students.

Education is a high priority for me. When the school district asked for the use of the entire Assessors Building in order to relieve overcrowding, the current council said NO!!! That will not happen with Tom Camarella on the council.

I will support Culver City Teachers. When Adult School teachers came to the council and asked for the city to join the "Cities that Read" literacy program, the council said NO!!! I will build the bridges and form the partnerships needed to support our dedicated teachers.

I will try to get students more involved in city government by enacting a "Youth Advisory Committee" to advise me on all issues related to the young people of our city. Since they will be the leaders of Culver City in the near future, we must work to get them ready, and I'm committed to doing just that.

TOM SUPPORTS EDUCATION AND EDUCATORS SUPPORT TOM

"We need council members in Culver City who will use their position to support our teachers, schools, and especially our students. Tom has demonstrated through his community involvement and plan for increased cooperation between the schools and the city, that he has what it takes. On April 13th, I will be voting for Tom Camarella, as should all those who want to improve education in Culver City."

David Mielke President, Culver City Federation of Teachers

"Often when I see Tom Camarella speaking at a City Council or School Board meeting, he is talking about improving city support for our schools. I know that with Tom on the Council, there will be greater cooperation which will inevitably lead to a better community."
