This information is provided by the candidate

Born and raised in western Pennsylvania, Ed Large was taught at an early age the importance of service to both church and community. He is the youngest of seven children to Howard, a retired naval officer and Southern Baptist minister, and Jean, a public school teacher. Ed was always involved in the United Methodist Church where his parents had grown up, in the small country town of Pulaski, Pennsylvania. From founding his church youth group to preaching in Sunday worship, Ed was, and still is, commited to the life of the church and his community.

As a member of that United Methodist congregation, Ed discovered a love for music that led him to increased community involvement with the New Castle Playhouse that spanned eight years. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Opera chorus and the American Guild of Musical Artists, a union for classical musicians, dancers and technical staff.

Ed left New Castle to attend seminary at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio where he met his wife. While at MTSO Ed entered leadership through service on the Academic Affairs Committee, a group comprised of administration, faculty and students that developed academic policy for the seminary. He developed skills in pastoral leadership in his role as Campus Ministry Seminary Intern at King Avenue United Methodist Church on the campus of The Ohio State University. Ed believes that public service, like ordained ministry, is a calling that is good and noble, and that public servants are called to work for, protect and inform the people who are served.

Ed and his wife Megan, a pastor at Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church, were married in 2002 and have made their home in Mount Lookout. He is active in the church contemporary praise choir and teaches 9th and 10th grade Sunday school. Ed is committed to serving the people of Hamilton County and to enacting reform in the Clerk of Courts office. He is excited and honored to have this opportunity to meet the great people of this county and hopes to recieve your vote for Clerk of Courts in 2004.
