Get to know Russ Jackson

By Russell L. "Russ" Jackson, Jr.

Candidate for Commissioner; County of Hamilton; 4 Year Term Starting 1/2/05; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate
This document provides information relating to Russ and his background/experience.
RUSS JACKSON is president of the Anderson Township Board of Trustees. He was just re-elected to a third term as trustee in his community of almost 45,000 residents, known for its outstanding quality of life and rated as one of the Tri-State's most livable communities. Russ operated the local Peterbilt truck dealership until this past summer, when it was sold to a national chain.

Russ is an unabashed conservative Republican dating back to the Barry Goldwater years. More recently, Russ helped Mike Barrett, chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party, create the Township, Cities, and Villages Committee. The TCV committee has been successful in recruiting and electing Republicans in the 47 Hamilton County communities outside of Cincinnati and Norwood. In 2003 alone, the TCV boasted a 100-percent success rate, having helped 26 Republican candidates reach office.

Russ has been active in Hamilton County matters, as evidenced by his role as chairman of the Stormwater Oversight Committee, his active involvement with Community Compass and the OKI Regional Summit, and on the board of directors of the Hamilton County Township Association.

Russ is a strong advocate of pro-life and family values, and has been endorsed for trustee by groups like Family First. Not too long ago he initiated and passed a resolution to restrict sexually-oriented businesses in Anderson Township.

Russ is a proven fiscal conservative. When it comes to spending tax dollars, Russ knows the difference between needs and wants, as Anderson Township has one of the lowest effective residential property tax rates in all of Hamilton County.

Russ has demonstrated character as a diligent, tenacious, and resourceful problem solver who, in his words, thinks "outside the bureaucracy." One need look no further than Hillcrest Cemetery in Anderson, where Russ was instrumental in turning a forsaken and forgotten graveyard into an honorable resting place for over 1,200 African-American veterans. Russ Jackson offers a unique combination of successful leadership experience and competence, both in business and in government. RUSS JACKSON is a candidate worthy of your trust and your support.
