I believe in Policies ... Not Politics. The goal of your assemblyperson should be to improve and protect the lives of the people in your district. It should not be to espouse your personal ideology or create needless laws that have no real benefit, when we are not enforcing the laws on the books. I also believe that our forefounders never intended for politics to be a career. They expected that people would take time out to serve the public good and then return to their private lives, thus ensuring fresh ideas. I believe that we should do our best to eliminate "safe" districts where the incumbent doesn't have to accomplish anything to get re-elected. And I would like to see the end of gerrymandered districts that cut apart cities and townships. I am a small business owner and a member of the community who became so frustrated with the politics-as-usual in Sacramento that instead of just complaining, I decided to try and make a difference. To find out more of my beliefs, I encourage everyone to visit my website at http://www.nicholson4assembly.com.
