As a teenager I was disturbed by America's treatment of African-Americans and by the Vietnam War. I studied political science and philosophy in college, then headed out in the real world. I have had a couple of jobs working for non-profit organizations, but have mostly earned my way by offering my services to businesses. I have read widely about history and about the various philosophies of government.

I believe that while individual initiative is important, so is the mutual support we find in the human community. I know our laws have largely been written by rich Americans for rich Americans, and I seek to change that.

I believe that economies are created by human beings, and they must serve human beings. Our economy is dominated by inherited wealth, by corporations, and by a government that has become beholden to them.

I would restore taxation on the rich (on capital gains, large inheritances, and dividends) because that helps reduce concentrations of wealth and provides tax relief to those who really need it.

The environment is critical to our survival and something of value in and of itself. We need to make decision that will allow a healthy environment for as far into the future as we can see.

I believe that people who are smart, strong, rich or powerful who use these assets to prey on the poor or weak are criminals and psychopaths. I would seek to renew the American economy by leading a renewal of values. People and business organizations should produce something of value; those that are predatory should be closed down.

I am an optimist about social potential at a time of grave dangers to the earth and humanity. We must clearly identify the problems, including the two-party corporate tag team against the American people, and systematically dismantle what is corrupt and create solutions in harmony with the earth.
