Education is my top priority. My three children attended school in the Conejo Valley and two of them continue to attend our excellent local public universities. I was educated in the Middle East, England, and, locally at California Lutheran University and California State University Northridge. I am a teacher of American History and American Government at Cleveland High School in Reseda, where I try to bring to life the fundamental ideas of the Founders of our American democracy, and the importance of each citizen's participation in and understanding of our government. I believe in the benefits of public education and am committed to working hard to identify the best practices and to improve our schools, not tear down their work.

Providing the best health care possible to our citizens, especially the old and the youngest should not be a privilege, but a right. How can we be part of the industrialized and civilized world while some of our citizens are treated as though they live in an undeveloped country. I believe that we can tailor a better health care system that is compatible with our place and leadership in the world.

The environment is an essential issue to us in the 37th District, because we are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Our generation must not be an instrument of destruction; we must balance public policies to encourage both growth and the environment. We have to envision what we are going to leave for our children to enjoy as we have done. We have to continue to contain pollution and protect the underground water, keep open spaces and protect our natural areas.
