BIOGRAPHY OF MARK LEYES REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR THE 68th ASSEMBLY DISTRICT

Mark Leyes was elected to the Garden Grove City Council in 1990 and re-elected three times. Mark is now the senior member of the City Council in his 14th year of service.

Mark Leyes currently works for Republican Assemblyman Bob Pacheco in his District Office.

Mark Leyes is an elected member of the Orange County Republican Party Central Committee, serving in his second term representing the 68th Assembly District.

Mark Leyes was honored as the Local Elected Official of the Year for 2001 by the Orange County Republican Party.

Mark Leyes is a County Co-Chair for RESCUE CALIFORNIA: RECALL GRAY DAVIS and was the Orange County Taxpayers representative for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's "County Leadership Action Team" during the Recall campaign.

Mark Leyes is a native of Orange County. Mark and Wanda, his wife of 16 years, are homeowners and active in their church and neighborhood.

Mark Leyes attended Garden Grove public schools and earned his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Economics from California State University, Fullerton.

Mark Leyes has been a Boy Scout troop leader and a member of the Orange County Council for Boy Scouts of America. Mark is a founding member of the Garden Grove Community Foundation, and a member of the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce and the Garden Grove Historical Society.

Mark Leyes has served as the city's representative on the Board of the Orange County Sanitation District, the Orange County Regional Airport Authority, the Santa Ana River Flood Protection Agency, and the West Orange County Water Board.

In 1986, Mark was elected to the Board of the Municipal Water District of Orange County.

In 1996, Mark was appointed by then-Speaker of the Assembly Curt Pringle to the California Council on Criminal Justice.
