Environment

By Tom Hutchings

Candidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 33; Green Party

This information is provided by the candidate
We need to respect our place in the interdependent web of life.
ENVIRONMENT

We humans are but one part of the ecosystem with a unique responsibility.

We should understand our responsibility is to develop an understanding of environmental sustainability and to live and promote those practices which support it.

Ecologically sound principles of living can guarantee protection for the Earth and all its peoples.

Our commitment to environmental justice helps us to understand that in a closed system we all live downstream and downwind.

We need to end "toxic racism."

Here's what we need to do:

Support recycling.

Support legislation to ensure a clean and safe water supply.

Support sustainable water policies.

Support banning the burning of tire-derived fuels.

Support establishing environmental trust funds with money raised form pollution fees and other public revenues.

Protect our Central Coast offshore waters from oil drilling.

Support overhauling forestry agencies to protect our forests.
