Allan L. Dollison is a Democratic Candidate for California State Senate, District 1. He is a married father of two small children. He is a Military Officer, and local attorney in Amador County. He currently serves as the Public Defender for the county with a law firm who contracts with the county. In the U.S. Army Reserve, he holds the rank of Captain, and is branched in the Field Artillery. He is also a graduate of the United States Army Infantry Officer Advanced Course. He currently commands Headquarters Company, 1st Brigade, 91St Division in Dublin, California. He has also served as an officer in the California National Guard. He protected Los Angeles in the LA Riots of 1992, and the Northridge Earthquake of 1994, earning the State Service Ribbon, (x2) and the Humanitarian Award.

Allan Dollison was the Democratic Candidate for the California State Assembly in 1994, in District 72, garnering over 35,000 votes. He also has experience in political campaigns, having worked for Dave Carter for Congress (now a Federal Judge), Tom Umberg for Assembly (Democratic Candidate for State Attorney General in 1994), Tom Bradley for Mayor [Los Angeles](in 1989), and Tony Capozzi for Mayor [Fresno], also in 1989 (now President of the State Bar of California).

If elected to the State Senate, I aim to protect and further the interests of California's working families. I will prioritize education. I will insure that Education gets its proper resources. It is sad that our classes are the largest in the nation. It is sad we rank 41 out of 50 in per student spending. It is sad that a college education is practically out of reach for middle income families. I will work hard to cower the budget and find the part of the budget that is waste, and reduce spending where appropriate. I will then in turn spend these resources on education for young people.

I will work hard to eliminate corruption out of the workers compensation program. Doctors, Attorneys and Insurance Companies should not be profiting off of this program. It should be a fund to assist injured workers while they cannot work. It should provide peace of mind to businesses. It should not drive jobs out of the state.

I will also seek to amend California's Three Strikes Law. I will insure that no petty, non serious or violent offense will land someone in prison for 25 Years to Life. Let us make all qualifying offenses Three Serious or Violent Felonies, where victims actually suffered serious or violent injuries. I will also look at parole policy, and drug treatment laws, as well as mental health issues. Many incarcerated inmates are there solely for reasons related to mental illness. Let us provide mental health treatment to those individuals. It is much cheaper than the almost $30,000 in incarceration costs for each inmate, for each year. Additionally, we lock people up for petty drug offenses. We make treatment unaffordable, because we waste resources on jails and prisons. Drug addiction is a medical problem, which needs a medical solution. Not a criminal solution. Current laws prevent people who drive cars without valid licenses to be denied drug treatment and sent to prison. That is a terrible waste of resources.

On other issues, I am solidly Democrat. I am proudly pro-choice. I believe in affirmative action, and support its continued existence, in education, hiring and other areas. I am proud that out of a small law office with seven employees, Three are women, and 2 of my 4 lawyers are African American. I favor sensible limits on the use of guns. The 2nd Amendment was only meant to apply to well regulated militias. The United States Supreme Court just reaffirmed this 70-year old rule. I am proud that as a Democrat, we are now the party of fiscal restraint. The current Governor just wants to uses a giant credit card and mortgage my childrens' future's. I won't let him.

I also favor a strong environment, and the labor movement to protect Californian's Jobs. I am proud to be endorsed by the AFL +CIO. Let us put bold decisive leadership, that will do what is right for ordinary Californians, and not the special interests.
