A 37 year resident of California, Peter "Pedro" De Baets was raised in a small central San Joaquin valley farm town where he was an "A" student, a little league center fielder, and a Fresno Bee newspaper delivery boy.

He left the cotton fields and thick Tule fog to attend UCLA in 1980, and earned his bachelor's degree in Math/Computer Science in 1984.

Peter immediately began gaining a wide variety of experience in the business world working as a systems analyst and programmer for many different industries including health insurance, retail sales, oil and gas, hospital administration, defense, clothing manufacturing, entertainment, construction, satellite TV, and eventually by starting his own retail software business.

During this time, Peter also traveled around the world, visiting 19 countries in just over a year, and played lead guitar in a rock and roll band.

Throughout his life, Peter gained an increasing love for Freedom, and Individual Liberty, and an unsettling feeling that today's politicians did not share this affection.

As a pro-Liberty activist, Peter has helped to put utility tax reduction initiatives on the ballot in different Southern California cities, and has organized, and participates regularly in, drug war protests and other Liberty-related events.

As a State Senator, Peter hopes to be a voice for Freedom and Individual Liberty in the Assembly Chamber where no voice currently exists. He hopes to be a rational alternative to the creeping interference of the politicians and bureaucrats in your life, in your family and in your business.

Peter is currently working on his campaign, on building his business, on his roller hockey slap shot, and on his conditioning for the current beach volleyball season.
