Questions & Answers

1. What does California need to do to address the current budget crisis?

I believe that the Governor and the state legislature should put the budget on hold until the end of the year and redirect the efforts of the legislators and staffs to a line item-by-line item audit of every department, agency, etc, in state government in a concentrated and bi-partisan effort to identify and eliminate waste, redundancy and fraudulent appropriation and spending.

2. What should the state's priorities be for K-12 education? For the Community College System?

Excellence of programs and teachers; creative approach to teaching; curtailing of multiple "testing" protocols in favor of individual attention to individual needs and measurement of progress; to safe, clean and environmentally sound facilities; mandatory reintroduction of arts, music and physical education programs in all curriculums; give the schools control of the money they need and eliminate wasteful spending at the administrative levels.

3. What measures would you support to address California's water needs?

In process

4. What should the Legislature be doing to address the needs of Californians without health insurance?

I believe that the right to quality and affordable health care is a right, not a privilege. I believe that the state must PARTNER with employers to ensure that this care is available to all employed Californians and their families, through the use of incentives or a matching funds program, as well as affordable quality health care alternative programs.
