1. What can be done to ensure that California gets its fair share of federal resources?

Answer from Tom Lash:

Public education is exactly that...money that should be provided by the federal government, paid for by our taxes, to the states to adequately educate the citizens in each state. To date this is not being done. States are being squeezed as the federal budget swells on the defense side and shrinks on the social spending side. We must demand what is rightfully ours.

2. What are your foreign policy priorities for the United States?

Answer from Tom Lash:

Adhere to international treaties. Pay our dues to the United Nations and respect its counsel. Sign on to the Kyoto Accords. Sign the land mine ban treaty. Withhold all military aid to Israel until it adheres to UN resolutions. Withdraw from Afganistan and Iraq.

3. What are your priorities for the federal budget?

Answer from Tom Lash:

Move towards a defensive military to free up needed capital for human needs.

Balance the budget.

Responses to questions asked of each candidate are reproduced as submitted to the League.
