1. What does California need to do to address the current budget crisis?

Answer from Robert A. Woods:

California needs to pass Budget Accountability Prop. 56 to end yearly stalemate:

I tentatively favor adding 1/2 cents to state sales tax. I also would work balancing up Prop 13 for better equalization of Ad Valorem aspect.

2. What should the state's priorities be for K-12 education? For the Community College System?

Answer from Robert A. Woods:

I favor free public education from Pre-school through Grade 14 when financially feasible; only when above taxes are enacted; all measures on a pay-as-we-go basis.

3. What measures would you support to address California's water needs?

Answer from Robert A. Woods:

I need to review these matters from the standpoint of counties of origin which I would represent. As a related item, I favor strengthening levees in our Central Valley pay-as-we-go.

4. What should the Legislature be doing to address the needs of Californians without health insurance?

Answer from Robert A. Woods:

I believe in Universal Health care. I've visited the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand, all of whom have health care for all citizens under a single payer system. Needs to be done nationally but California could take steps in that direction.
