Supervisor; County of San Luis Obispo; Supervisorial District 5

"Balancing the social, economic, and environmental needs of residents" has been my guiding principle since I was first elected Fifth District Supervisor. That principle has helped San Luis Obispo County remain financially solvent and economically strong ( with one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state ) during one of the worst fiscal crises in California history.

In addition to maintaining a balanced budget and avoiding severe cuts to public services, I have worked to achieve the following during the past four years:

·Repair and renovation of county roads and bridges ·Improved response time and staffing for public safety agencies ·New educational and recreational facilities for our community ·Strengthening the viability of the agriculture industry ·Increased protection for environmentally-sensitive coastal lands
