Mike Ryan believes the fundamental responsibility of county government is to provide essential services to the public: sheriff's deputies on the street; firefighters and paramedics at the ready; libraries for learning; parks, zoos, and other recreational facilities for families; and, roads and bridges that are safe and secure for motorists.

He also wants to confront the new challenges of the coming years: providing affordable housing for our population,improving the quality of health care, and increasing our supply of water. These challenges will require a willingness to make tough choices, but they will be necessary to ensure a bright future for our children and grandchildren.
