Its mandated by the State but there is much we can do to avoid sprawl and protect our agriculture and open space
We realize that population growth is a reality for all Californians. Additional growth in our County must address the challenges of available water, regional sanitation, and affordable housing. We must consider the need for an expanded job market to include the very necessary "head of household" positions. With a tourism based economy, for the most part, low wage positions will not allow our community to prosper and will eventually become a society of the "haves" and "have nots". Providing the infrastructure needed to support mandated development and the inevitable, controlled population growth should be on the front burner. To allow growth without this component in place is criminal. Growth concentration must be congruent with our geographic topography, the preservation of our natural resources and the optimal utilization of water sources that are presently available, but untapped. Through research and consultations, I have developed some theories that mitigate these challenges. Although, I do not yet have all the answers to these dilemmas, they are out there and within our grasp. I assure you, that as your representative, I will pursue them aggressively.
